About TPMRPG :: The Pokémon Moon :: Pokemon Online RPGAbout TPMRPG
About TPMRPGThe Pokémon Moon RPG -- otherwise known as TPMRPG was started by Klade (though you can also call him "Cless", which is his old name) upon June 2nd, 2007. This is currently the most popular Pokémon RPG on the web (in terms of monthly traffic), though, it was not easy to get where we are now. So many things have occurred -- I cannot tell you every single detail. I will, however, give you a somewhat brief description of each version.
Version 0.1 - Version 0.2
These were the first versions of The Pokémon Moon RPG. At this time, no members were permitted to access the site (only a special few). I had actually been programming since the age of eight or nine (can't exactly remember), though I had never actually put my abilities to good usage (I just played around with it, using C++ to create random things). I had discovered some online Pokémon RPGs, and I thought many of them at the time were amazing... so, I had decided to make one of my own -- it would be pretty fun for myself, and I'm sure there are a good few who would enjoy it. I had never dreamed that this site would become so large.
Anyway -- Version 0.1 and Version 0.2 were badly coded, seeing as my HTML, CSS, and PHP skills were quite minimal. Before that, I had primarily utilized programming languages such as C++ and Assembly.
Eventually, my skills with HTML, CSS, and PHP had developed more, and thus began Version 0.3.
Version 0.3 - Version 0.6
This was the first actual release to the public. Before releasing it, I redid nearly every script, and it turned out a lot better than the previous versions. Mind you it was still horribly programmed, and there was HUGE lag. Money was a huge issue (seeing as I was twelve at the time with nobody to help me).
Things would happen every week -- server problems, mainly.
I continued it until Version 0.6, whereas my knowledge grew even more. Version 0.7 X was born.
Version 0.7 X - Version 0.9.5 X
This was the first database reset -- the new site was not compatible with the old one. It was pretty well programmed (sort of; still had major issues, however).
Not much actually happened in this version, as far as I can remember. I had a lot of time to program and such, so it was very nice.
Stress began to grow late in Version 0.9.5 X, however.
Once again, my knowledge grew, and I redid everything.
Version 1.0 X - Version 1.1 X
The second database reset... actually, I didn't have to reset all of the user's Pokémon and such, but I was too stupid at the time to make a conversion script.
Version 1.1 X was actually really stressful. Most of the details pertaining to this I would rather not explain.
Because of this, I become lazy. I was neglecting the website, though I shouldn't have been. In October/November, I realized that I should work harder -- this website was for the members. Rather, I knew I could have dealt with all of this crap in a better manner.
I know I am not forced to this site, but... I'd worked so hard so I could make this RPG. I was unwilling to throw that away, plus, the members who enjoyed it would have been disappointed.
Soon enough, I had decided to research a lot more on JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, and PHP. After that, I realized that the site could be improved a lot.
Version 1.2 X
This time, there was no database reset -- rather, I redid every single page, created new concepts, etc. I had enough intellectual ability to do so this time. Oh, yay.
Well, excluding a minor accident in Version 1.1 X, though, most users were able to keep all of their data (though we had to start off with zero users again... worse, we had just reached 100,000 users). Anyway, that's a very long and complicated story.
By now, we have already reached in excess of 100,000 users again.
Despite there being no reset, however, this was the most expansive version change in TPMRPG history.
The end... for now.
